WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to today’s scheduled markup of STELAR legislation (“Satellite Television Community Protection and Promotion Act of 2019”) by the House Judiciary Committee, the following statement can be attributed to NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith:
“NAB – along with ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC and their respective affiliate associations – strongly supports Chairman Nadler’s Satellite Television Community Protection and Promotion Act of 2019. This narrowly-tailored legislation would ensure tens of thousands of DIRECTV customers in 12 neglected markets are finally provided with their local television signals. We appreciate the Chairman’s thoughtful approach to this issue, and encourage lawmakers to advance the bill at today’s House Judiciary Committee markup.”
