Job Summary

KOBI-TV NBC5 in Medford, Oregon, seeks a results-oriented Chief Broadcast Engineer to lead a team of Broadcast Engineer professionals.

Required:
• Five years of broadcast television engineering experience
• Two-year tech school or equivalent college courses
• Working knowledge of desktop computers and IT networks, microwave transmission systems, television transmitters, test equipment, vehicle maintenance, and construction tools
• Ability to lead and supervise a team
• Ability to diagnose, problem-solve, and handle complex issues under pressure
• Must be able to accommodate shift changes, including evenings, weekends, and 24/7 on-call response to technical issues
• Knowledge of FCC rules, regulations, and compliance requirements
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience establishing engineering policies and procedures
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs for short distances
• Maintain a valid driver’s license

The duties listed below include stations KOBI-TV and KOTI-TV

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Manage all technical aspects of the broadcast television studio and multiple transmitter sites, including equipment procurement, installation, maintenance, and FCC rules and regulation compliance
• Manage and maintain systems responsible for supporting on-air operations such as HVAC, networking, electrical, and mechanical
• Manage local computer networks, phone systems, and staff’s hardware and software needs
• Work closely with General Manager, President, and pertinent cable networks
• Manage, supervise, and lead the broadcast engineer team

This is a full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week, with flexible scheduling.

KOBI-TV NBC5 is licensed by the FCC, therefore, must follow federal guidelines. Since marijuana is still illegal on a federal level, if offered a position, a candidate must pass a 10-panel drug screen, including marijuana. A 3-year driving record check and a 7-year criminal background check are also pre-employment requirements. KOBI-TV NBC5 requires all new hires to be COVID-19 vaccinated and up-to-date, which does include boosters. A valid driver’s license is also required.
