Job Summary

Alpha Media – Portland is seeking a talented, professional PART-TIME Board Operator/Journalist, to run weekend programming on our stations FM News 101.1 KXL, 750 The Game KXTG-AM, Freedom 970 KUFO-AM. The ideal candidate must be able to work flexible hours and be available for additional shifts when necessary.

Responsibilities for this position may include:
Operate on-air console and audio controls.
Write and voice news stories for on-air play.
Write and publish news stories for the station website.
Monitor on-air broadcasts for several stations and respond to off-air issues.
Receive and screen incoming calls during broadcast.
Accurately log discrepancies.
Maintain studio equipment and logs.
Understand the procedures to follow in case of a computer crash or loss of broadcast signal.
Communicate with the station Program Director and News Director in the event of any concerns, issues, or problems with the broadcast.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements of this position may include the following:
Knowledge of all applicable FCC rules and regulations.
Knowledge of the EAS system and legal requirements.
Experience in digital editing software such as Adobe Audition.
Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and handle strict deadlines.
Proficient in running radio automation systems.
Ability to troubleshoot unexpected problems and fix them quickly.
High School diploma or equivalent.

Preference may be given to candidates who have the above experience plus the following:
Previous experience in commercial or non-commercial broadcast media.
Experience operating automation systems.
Experience with news writing systems, such as Newsboss.
Experience running radio automation systems, such as Wide Orbit.
